Richard L. Trader, Sr.
MMsc RRT PA-C FCCM
Director, Institute of Health Sciences
In 2003, he was elected by the Society of Critical Care Medicine as a Fellow of the American College of Critical Care Medicine, which recognized his role as a pioneer in Medical Education and Critical Care Medicine, at their international conference in San Antonio, Texas. Developed the first two-year AA degree program for Respiratory Therapist in Maryland and the first one year post-graduate residency program for Physician Assistants in Intensive Care Medicine. Research activities' have centered on remote patient monitoring and implementation of the first Medical Mass Spectrometer within a community ICU, for measurement of end-tidal gases in ICU patients, while working at the University of Maryland and Brown University.
Former Director of Critical Care Services at Sinai Medical Center for over twenty years, he is a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Registered Physician Assistant in Primary Health Care and Surgery, and Pulmonary Technologist. He holds a BS in Health Sciences from Skidmore University and a Masters (MMsc) Degree in Medical Sciences from the International University of Health Science, Medical School.

Cardiovascular technology is an allied health profession concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart and blood vessel disease. The cardiovascular technologist performs tests at the request of a physician to obtain information about that patient's heart and blood vessel anatomy and function so the physician can make a diagnosis.
